Dogs for Obama

Tonight, we watched the second presidential debate on tv. Trust me, I love watching tv, and tonight was certainly no exception. I think it's really important for Americans, even us dogs, to take notice of the issues presented before us.
We're in an economic turning point and my Nestle stocks (Purina dog food company) and my 401k dropped the past few weeks. America needs change, and they need it now!
I'm not endorsing any particular candiate as of yet until I am certain on all their stands and viewpoints. I think I know whom I am voting for though but I am still uncertain. But the point is, I watched the debate and I care about this election. Don't forget to cast your vote this November!

We're Back!

We are back! We are so sorry to keep our fans from the latest news. Here's a brief run through over the past few months:

1.) There is talk of our human companions being "engaged." I don't know what that means's but everyone is happier than ever! I hope they "engage" with me in throwing a frisbee around!

2.) In June, our human companions took us on a six hour drive west. We went to visit our Aunt Katie in Los Angeles. We are told this is the town from where our doggie idols are from like Lassie, and Ceasar Milan. We went to a place called Long Beach, where there were a bunch of other doggies were at the beach. This was my first experience at this so called beach. I got sand all over my doggy parts, and the water was chilly!

3.) The rest of the summer was very hot. July was my birthday and we hung out at our grandparents house. I got a cool treat and some cool new toys. Whitney also got some too, but I guess so she doesn't get jealous.

4.) We got haircuts in the summer but our hair has grown out again. We're prepping for the winter. It's finally starting to cool down so it will be all worth it! We're pretty healthy otherwise. Whitney lost some weight. I've been running a lot in the canal and bikeside with our human companions a few times a week.

Well that's all I have to report, Whitney keeps scratching at the door (which she does every 30 minutes). She reminds me of that "Got to Go, Got to Go, Got to Go Right Now" Detrol commercial. She's so annoying.

Whitney and I enjoy laying in the sun. I do it to work on my tan even though I know that I will never get as dark as Whitney!

To prepare for the warm weather that is headed our way, we were shaved tonight.

Tonight we have also received a few new nicknames:

What's In A Name?

Bella and I both have nicknames that we have learned to respond to. Mine include Beebs, BeeBee, Whitters, Whit, Black One, Blackhead, and a more recent one: "Get Out of the Kitchen". Bella goes by any one of the following: Bellisima, Bells, Bello, Bellsy, Pretty, Cuddly, Lover Lady, Whitehead, and my personal favorite: Poop Mouth. We are also frequently called "Girls" and "Lovely Ladies".

Our full names are Whitney Beyoncé and Bella Céline. (Yes, both of our middle names come from the first names of famous singers.) My parents originally named me Beyoncé, but changed my name after a week or so when they decided that Whitney was a better fit.

We always try to begin and to end our days in the same way: On our parents' bed.

Whitney and I recently took a bath. I don't recommend it.

Bella and I talk about our four uncles a lot in our posts. They live with our grandparents, and they are all Golden Retrievers.

Chester is the oldest. Cody is the second oldest, followed shortly by Clancy and Charlie (these two are brothers from the same litter).

Here are portraits of the Boys taken by my mom.

Whitney has a thing for Tupperware. When no humans are home, she will open up the kitchen cupboards and take out all of the Tupperware containers and lids. She doesn't usually chew on them, but she has left a few teeth marks. I am not sure why she does this; perhaps she thinks she will find food in them.

My parents got smart though. They have been putting up a gate so that we can't get into the kitchen when they are not home. But you know Whitney, she has knocked down that gate on more than one occasion!

Since Whitney told you all about her favorite hobby, I thought that I should talk about mine as well. I love playing with my football. It's a blue, squeaky football that I got for Christmas. It's fun to play catch with or chew on.

I even know what the human word "football" means. If somebody tells me to get my football, you better believe that I'll get it. I am always down for going long!

Speaking of football, the Super Bowl is coming to our town this coming weekend. My parents aren't big into watching football, but I hope they turn on the game so that I can watch and learn a few moves!

I must admit, my favorite hobby is watching tv. I especially love any show with animals or the great outdoors.

Currently, my two favorite shows are:

Lost is great because the set is beautiful - a dog's paradise. Plus, there's a labrador who is a regular on the show named Vincent.

Although Cesar Millan scares me, I really enjoy watching the dogs on his show. What entertainment!

It's official: Bobo is no more. Tonight Bella ripped his head off and removed his stuffing and squeaker.

Tonight we faced the inevitable, something dreaded by dogs all around the world:
THE TOOTHBRUSH.

Is that what I think it is? No, not the toothbrush!

To celebrate the New Year last year, my parents went away, and Whitney and I stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's. Late New Year's Eve, no humans were home, and all of us dogs decided to go outside to see what all the noise was about. Well, there were horns honking and bright lights firing into the sky. Some of these bright lights were followed by loud noises, and one of the noises was extra loud. With no humans to run to, I got scared and jumped over the fence, leaving behind my sister and the rest of the dogs.

It wasn’t until four days later that I saw the face of my mom, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had traveled nearly two miles within our suburban town and had made a home for myself in a field of dried wildflowers.

About halfway through my journey, I got hit by a moving vehicle and injured my back, left leg. This injury made it difficult for me to travel, but I was still faster than the many humans who tried to catch me. I now realize that these people were probably trying to help me, but I was just so freaked out by everything that had happened. I thought I would never make it home.

It was Friday, January 5, 2007 at just about 5:00 pm, and I heard someone calling my name. I sat up and looked over my shoulder behind me – it was my mom! She found me in the field! She came closer, but I moved farther away from her. This continued for a few minutes. Then my mom sat down in some nearby grass, and I was just so excited to see her! I ran over to her and rolled onto my back for her to scratch my belly.

The rest is history. She took me to the hospital to get checked out, and then we headed home. I had to have surgery the following Monday. My back knee ended up having a torn ligament. The knee will never be quite the same as it used to, but it feels a lot better these days. I don’t get to jump as high as I used to when playing Frisbee, but I can still have a lot of fun.

Here is a picture of me with my cast on after surgery. Thank heaven for doggie painkillers!

(The above story is true. Bella was missing for four days, and her family was very worried about her the entire time. Bella would like to thank her parents, grandparents, and her Aunt Katie. Without their intense search efforts, she may have never made it home.)
